Thats how I ended up a O/O . They missed my home time twice and I notified them once I got to a terminal I was done . Rented a car packed my bags and formulated a new game plan . If your fleet manager, dispatchers dont respect your request to go home they dont respect you at all .

    A few things.

My company would get you home. They guarantee a flight home if #### happens.

Now, as a driver. I have never worried about 12 on and so much off. I do what’s required and then some. I tell them they need to worry about the drivers not up to par...

My buddy had a couple of companies turn him down because he had too many jobs. Those companies wanted him to get one full year in at one company. The "bottom feeders" won't care how often you job hop.

You get stuck out on Christmas. Chalk it up to the game of over the road trucking. Big company or small, sometimes you get home for Christmas, sometimes you don't. All I know is that it's the smallest window to get loads when these holidays come around. Everything gets booked up so quickly. Then everything closes early

Welcome to your first year driving for a mega. Many of us had to deal with this problem our first year driving. You're kinda at their mercy until you get another job offer.

The underlying truth to all this is that home time really isn't that important to me. I've been staying out three or more weeks at a time. I run like seven days a week. The only time i take a break is when i cant pick up or drop off until a certain time. Its just that when it counts they ignore me or send me the opposite direction. I request well in advance or when i know ive been out long enough too, and somehow they still cant get me home. Lately its always been one or two days after the requested days...even know ive requested a day or two off ahead of the day i actually need. Its ridiculous because for the past two months ive only gone home for stuff/appointments i must absolutely be at and as stated before i have stayed out more than enough time and have requested in advance.

I spent money on a rental home but the day i needed was actually after Christmas so i requested two days ahead off 24th and 25th after being out 3 weeks running non stop unless i couldnt drop off or pick up until a said time and still they said i was requesting Christmas off too early although christmas is not what i needed although they had the nerve to ask if i wanted off to see if they could find a load on Christmas (knowing its the one day a year probably no ones working) only to dispatch me on a load that doesnt pick up until the night of the 26th the day i needed off at home but could only get there by renting a car and driving 500 miles to where i needed to be.
