One of my customers has 5 of them, 2013 to 2017’s hauling b-trains. Happy with everything but the hp. But realistically they’re a 13L motor with emissions.

We run about 10 '15 and '16 Petes with MX-13 engines (some 9 speed manual, some 12 speed auto). They have been a nightmare since day one. We also run Volvos and KWs with Cummins power and Freighliners with Detroits. The Paccar powered Petes are in the shop 2 to 3 times as often as the other trucks. The issues range from emissions malfunctions to electrical problems to transmissions refusing to shift (autos). All modern trucks have issues but these Paccar engines have been way worse than what is typical. If you are going to buy a Pete or KW, the only rational choice is a Cummins powered version.

I'm currently running a 2019 KW T680. Only 2200 miles on it. MX 13. Having major fuel pressure issues. As of this writing, it has been in the shop for the past 11 days. Paccar is heavily involved as it's a warranty issue. I hope this is no indication of what I have to look forward to with this truck.

    I would not buy them.

I would lean towards the older non emissions trucks. As in anything before say 1996. There isnt anything hardly to restrict them any more than necessary.

Nothing bad mind you. It's the emissions that are the liability since about 2007. If you sit and idle at 600 all night you find that you cannot do anything with that truck. You would have to idle at cruise RPM to allow the emissions system to actively do well with the processes. Or you essentially witness the mandated modern emissions turn your truck into a money pit horrorshow in the shop all the time.

I have never been more disappointed and angry with our foolish Government that has mandated these Emissions crap all over the big rigs. It has caused nothing but heartache and pain for all concerned. It is not worth it to comply. Better to buy a 1998 and older and roll.

There is a member on here, @Belials ,who does warranty work for a Paccar dealership.
He says the Paccar motors are no worse or no better then the Cummin's.
I think any brand will have a % off issues.

I have owned 2 MX's and no real issues.
