Firearms in truck

Wish it were so ScareCrow. SanFran is trying to ban them, NYC is trying, and has an approval system right now that has so many flaming hoops to jump through, and takes so long that it is as close to a ban as you can get. Give Bloomberg enough time, he will ban them completely. DC has a complete ban, all firearms, with very few exceptions.

Most places don't outright ban them, but will make it nearly impossible to legally own them. Some you wouldn't dare carry even though it is legal, because actually using one to defend yourself is illegal. By that I mean you are guilty until proven innocent when you defend yourself in those jurisdictions. Read the NRA case files from the last couple of years, there is some scarey stuff in there. Just how far the anti-gun legislature's will go to eliminate ownership. Don't forget to read about the ATF at gun shows, and some of the threats and illegal detainments they have done in the last couple of years.

The big msg here is, know your laws and reg's before you carry on the truck with you. Knowledge is the only way to protect yourself.

This is how weapons used to be,not sure if they still apply. Your weapon permit is only good in your own jurisdiction,if you travel out of state you must check it in at the nearest police dept. they lock it up give you a receipt and you pick it up when you leave to go home. I knew federal folks marshalls ,congress etc can carry one over the normal boundaries. when I lived in texas we could carry pistols but had to be 3 points away,in a comp,in a holster, don't remember if it could be loaded. however we could carry a shotgun or hunting rifle legally in the cdl vehicle. WE carried rifles to ca. and back to houston,no problem. in the 70's you could walk up the street with a holstered gun and go to church with it on. When I drove in boston i knew many cops there. A weapon of choice was an icepick. my friends told me to have the wife carry one in the car in her purse and carry one in my truck. it is nearly impossible to pull it out of your hand if your attacked. causes extreme damage to internal organs if twisted. its legal to have one and a good idea for your wife or daughter,if life or death.

 

Now let me define stupidity.
I just met a few guys who got back from Iraq as truckers for Haliburton (KBR). They do not allow you to carry any weapons in your truck. So if you get pulled over by terrorists you can kiss your ars goodbye.
President Bush recognizes the importance of Shia and Sunni customs and traditions and allows all citizens of iraq to carry fully automatic AK47's.
But our government does not recognize our US tradition of the right to bear arms so if you are trucking and breakdown in south central LA during a riot, you can kiss your ars goodbye!

 

Thats the big "flush" sound of our corrupt and broken government.

The sad part is, even if you said heck with it and took your gun with you anyway, and used it to defend yourself because you were in fear for your life, you'd be up a creek without a paddle. No matter how close the bad guy was to killing you, if you used that weapon where you are not supposed to have it, the courts would hang you out to dry.

Nope, I'm sorry to say you cannot defend your life and get away with it. MAYBE if you're carrying where you are licensed, or MAYBE if someone invades your home and you legaly own the firearms in it, you'd be ok. But even that is only a possibility. If you don't do everything just right, the prosecution will do what it takes to make you the bad guy. It's tough in this anti-gun environment.

I believe in gun rights, I have a CCW, I carry 24/7 when at home. I cannot decide on the pro's and con's of taking my weapon with me.

I don't want to die, but I don't want to fry or spend years in prizon either.

I'm honestly at a loss on what to do with our ever increasing socialist government.

Seems to me these words are ringing more true day by day:

get a federal permit it allows you to carry anywhere but just having a personal protection permit will not allow you to carry in any state that you want.

 

As far as I know, it is not possable for a regular citizen to get a federal carry permit.

Current and retired police can do this as long as they stay current on pistol qualification.

If you have info on an actual federal permit that people can get please enlighten me.

Alot, not all, .mil installations have a "lock box" and check in procedure in place. Call ahead and ask questions. Also if you break it down and put the slide, frame and bbl in different parts of the truck, the odds of an MP finding it are slim ( just dont ask me how I know this).

As for private places ( ie shippers and recievers) IF you get "made" all they can do is ask you to leave, if you do not, then you have to answer to the Police. A misdemeaner trespassing charge will insue.

A Federal Firearms Act has set forth the right to have, while traveling, firearms in your vehicle. YOU MUST FOLLOW THAT STATE LAWS!
I pack everywhere I go, and some I should not. I do adhere to the Federal buildings and property staute, I don't like felonies. I do not pack in states it ( my carry permit) is NOT honored, Nor do I go to thaose states.

As a poster stated, knowlege is king, be armed with a 1911 and knowlege
