I drop my load most part on Friday, Pick up a Loaded trailer for Monday delivery, I like to leave where I have a ten hour ending just before the appointment time, that leaves me a full clean slate to start with.

LMAO... I got kicked in the #### today. I didn't make it home until 5. And have to leave about noon Sunday.

That was part my fault. I turned a simple drop and hook, into a 3 hour "Quality Assurance" marathon.

I broke the seal on a load to get my load lock..... going into Tyson. Before I checked in.

Hey, it was cardboard boxes. Had it been a food product, I never would have touched it (the seal).

My pay isn't as much as yours, for the moment. But, I really don't want more miles :D I'm coasting, and enjoying it.

I won't take a load that doesn't have a ten hour break before the unloading time . We have one shipper we'll spot a tank at the day before loading . They'll hold it until 3 p.m. when it has to unload 7 a.m. 450 miles away . There's a time change going from Central Time to Eastern too . When they ask me a day ahead of time if I'll do that load I'll tell them if it isn't ready by noon it won't be there by 7 . I've delivered it at 9 several times . No way will I take a 7 hour break , take an hour and a half to unload then have to take another break . There have been some drivers that have had loads like that and continue to log sleeper while unloading . Those loads are air unload and the truck has to run at high idle . Those guys got busted by the Qualcomm . Copies of their logs were sent to all terminals with stern warnings that log falsification would result in suspension or termination .

We are aloud to do the 2/8 split logging at our company, so that does make it somewhat better to legally pull that kinda of stuff, and also we don't have any tracking equipment on any of our trucks, So that way the company won't get burned. But I just insist on enough time to get the load there without having to be crunched for time.

I have a uncle my age that does the same thing, He ends up with about 1000 miles less than me each week, and that is all he wants. He says, I want to make just enough to live on and ride my motorcycle. He is probably smarter than I

Yup , me too . I ran enough of those 3500 + miles weeks when I was younger and had a family to support . Now it's just me and the wife and she works for USPS . I'm happy with 2000-2500 miles a week and some time to enjoy life .

    Wiseguywireless Thanks this.

Bingo !!! Getting rich isn't the goal. Getting sanity back into your life, is what we want.

I sleep like a baby. I don't sweat when I check the mail, or answer the phone.

And now, I balance my checkbook to see how much I have. Rather than to insure I don't bounce a check.

That's where I'm at. I'll run hard if I'm asked/needed. But I'm finally where I can enjoy the fruits of my past labor. And that's what I want to do.

Talking with other drivers, and reading this forum. Makes me fully aware of how fortunate I really am.

Now if I could just get Mother Nature, to cut me a break for a few months :D

    News update!

I'm sitting, without any contact from the company for almost 24 hours.

Guess they really needed this truck.

Well at KR they never pull that bs. In fact my DM sent me home early. With the truck.:yes2557:Told him I'm not coming out early just because they get me home early. Said no prob. I'll be at home with the truck 11days. Not making any money here at home. But then again I was spending 1/3 my time sitting anyway. Might as well sit at home with my wife and a cold beer:biggrin_255:
