About 900 reliably, 1200 non smoking for racing, a little bit more for drag racing and pulling with max smoke.

Only when you wanted it to. Normally you would not know it had the power unless I was Standing on it way to soon in the powerband. At 1800 Max Fuel and air not more than a normal engine for that era. Get on her at 1200 RPM she would roll the Black smoke out like her Turbo had just gone up.

What did you ever do with this truck? -
hey there 1989 pete its still sitting outside the shop hooked up to a flatbed that i also bought to change the floors and put it to work with the Case guys down the street. A couple months ago one of the Internationals split a piston pin due to the lock coming off and scratched a liner and made me do the inframe at 400k. It put me behind schedule and a couple weeks ago one of the t2000's started to leak coolant into the oil and its 30,000 shy of a million so time for trade in is gonna be soon. My truck hit the million mark in February so inframe is going to be coming this fall or winter so all these little mishaps have sent The old cabover a couple steps back on the waiting list waiting list

I have a L8000 ford dump truck, 8.3 Cummins that took a dump, can I swap in a 400 big cam motor, 9 speed trans???
-
Someone can probably tell you better than me, but that 400 is a giant engine compared to that small Cummins.
And from what I understand, the Ford cabs were designed differently to take a different engine or at least a different size engine. -
Seen one done in L8000, had a plywood doghouse extension.
