Got my pay settlement today. Did NOT work Christmas, but was paid for it. Glad you don’t miss out if you don’t work.

Didn't know they were local down there? I guess you'd be reporting to Rockwall terminal. As far as local work goes, it doesn't pay all that great, compared to OTR(which is common at all companies, except LTL). Although this was 7 years ago, when I started at EPES I went to orientation with a girl that went local. Ran into her about 3-4 months after we both started. She said they had to do 3 loads a day(which is pretty much all the time you had to cover, except maybe you had enough time to squeeze in 4 loads one day a week, time permitting) and it paid $32 a load! Now, granted, this was 7 years ago I know EPES has had a pay raise(I started top pay was 42cpm and now it's 47cpm not much of a raise)...so if $100-$130 a day is your thing, good for you. All I can personally say, on my end, is EPES is great to start your career at. Even if it's starting your transition from OTR to local, however, that is about it! Get your experience and move on.

Just talked with Tina on facebook the other day, she's the Operations Manager. Asked her about the holiday pay raise. She said the drivers got one. It went from 45 a day to 55 a day. Another thing about general freight, all the lies drivers tell to glorify their company. You and I know, specialty hauling is where all the money is at. ;)

It’s nice to have weekends off now. Only work M-F, 484 miles every day and home every evening. Just finished my first week of it yesterday. No major cities so traffic was great (have had enough of Atlanta/Charlotte/Chattanooga/etc. .49cpm. Takes 4.5 hours there, 30 minutes to satisfy my break and 4.5 back. 10.5 hours a day in the truck and I’m done. This is a gravy train if ever there was one. I’m lucky.

Not local local per se, as it’s not a day cab and I’m not paid by the hour. Epes truly local guys get paid $19 an hour, some more (I know of one that pays $21).

Maybe it would be more in Houston. Wouldn’t hurt to call and ask.
