Just use that number. 171702. This is a borg warner s400 series turbo with a 75mm compressor and a 96mm turbine. 1.32 A/R non wastegated housing. OR S475

This is the turbo I purchased BorgWarner 171702: S400SX4 Turbocharger 75mm / 2.94" Compressor Inducer Dia. | JEGS s400x is supposed to be a slightly improved 171702, I don't exactly know how but it's worth trying, also make sure to buy
Divided Twin Scroll Turbine Housing gasket from amazon it's only 6bucks, the original gasket that comes with the turbo isn't divided in the middle, its open

UPDATE: Everything went great (so far), just got done taking the truck for a spin around the city with a Empty trailer and I immediately noticed a huge difference.

First the turbo spools up faster and it takes off like a monster, theres a huge power difference than before, the truck is no longer sluggish and slow to role of stop. Only thing left is for the turbo blanket which I'll install tomorrow when it arrives.

Hopefully I see a noticeable MPG difference. Stay tuned 20190118_124256.jpg 20190118_124222.jpg

Buckeyes614, I'm curious about your turbo drain tube. Is that an application from older style tuve? Please explain if you don't mind. Thanks

So it looks like they left all the EGR stuff on. I like that route, at quick glance it looks stock.
How much did your shop charge? Who did the tune to switch from the vgt to the bw?
I read the link from Jegs, sounds a great upgrade to the regular 171702.

    Yes it's a old style drain tube from a 2003 12.7

I haven't gotten the invoice for labor yet, the lady who does invoicing was sick for a couple days ,bwTurbo was 785 delivered plus taxes pittsburgh power manifold and gaskets was about 1500, I know the ecm tune to switch the vg to bw is 300, basically the guy who does the tune is in dallas, he remotely does everything thru the internet with a laptop that's connected to the truck at the shop.

Update: sorry for taking a little while to update. Heres the bottom line, this recent upgrade I did to my truck was the best thing I ever done.

First let's talk about the MPG, on my first trip I took a load from Columbus OH to Bedford PA, it was a 43k load, I avoided taking tollway i76 and took PA22, I averaged 6.10mpg after going thru them steep hills in PA WV.

Second load went from Carlisle PA to Fredericksburg VA 41k and I still got 6.83

Third load went from King George VA to Columbus OH 31k, after going thru them insane mountains in i68 and i79 and i70 in WV I got a whopping 6.73

Fourth load went from W Liberty OH to Chicago IL, 14k load this load was from hell it took them 10hrs to get the products ready (reefer products) and load me, the delivery got rescheduled and I had to sit on this load for 22hrs, i idled it the entire time, MPG as expected was 5.34

The current load I'm on will shock u, I picked it from Rockford IL headed to St Cloud MN, 43k load. So far 281 miles (65 miles dead head) and I just got done fueling in Black Rivers WI, 8.82MPG!!!!!

Next on the menu is an APU, a Pyro and Boost gauge. I'm currently looking for a tripac apu, if anyone knows a place that sells and installs, I'd really appreciate it

    thaistick Thanks this.
