It is their board policy and I respect that. We all agreed to the terms of use when we signed up. The board owner wishes to keep this a non-commercial place to protect the integrity of the site and as such he will not allow professionals to promote their services for a profit.

My goal is to spread accurate information to the members of this forum, although I would like to promote my consulting firm directly, I can and will respect their wishes. Besides, I am not that difficult to find if someone really wanted to find me.

In reality I have only gained one customer that did not know me in the real world from this board, and they didn't contact me through the board, instead they found me in the real world.

Well I will respect it also. I was under the impression we could share great information and service providers.

he was able to clear it up in a few days. what we ended up doing though is stopped hauling so he can get his cdl. hes a florida resident and we are in NY so he has to go to FL to get his cdl. after he gets his permit he has to wait 15 days before taking the cdl test. we tried finding a temp driver for the month while he completes but nobody wants to drive temporarily and i dont want to pretend to someone that its a permanent position just to let them go. i also dont want someone new to driving using our equipment and messing something up. so we made the decision to stop. the only expenses while stopped are insurance, truck/trailer payments and parking. so 1 month is 2k lost. well worth it in my opinion. i have a full time sales job so it doesnt effect me. its actually helping me in a way because i was slacking on my full time job focusing on atlanticus. once our driver has his cdl its on though!! thats when the real fun begins.

    congratulations on the baby!!

I believe if your trailer weight is 10k or more you need a cdl A. So if you have 9.9k of cars that trailer needs to weigh less then 100 pounds. If I am wrong please say. If I am right don’t these trailers weigh about 4-6k lbs that really legally limits you to 1-2 cars. Nobody ever talks about this here.

Except for the State of California you have to meet two conditions to require a class A license. First, the gross combined weight rating of both units must equal or exceed 26,001 pounds, and then the trailer gross weight rating must be 10,001 pounds or more.

This allows a truck and trailer combination to add up to exactly 26,000 pounds (or less) and be exempt from CDL even when the trailer exceeds 10,001 pounds GVWR. Example, F-350 at 11,000 with a trailer at 14,000 only is a combined GVWR of 25,000 so no CDL needed. Use a F-550 at 18,000 and you are into CDL A territory.

As for California, they are the only state that determines class A solely by the trailer weight rating, however they can't restrict out of state licensed drivers from operating without a CDL in their state, only CA licensed drivers.
