Now I am just wondering about the accident report. Sure there's no ticket on my record, but I assume companies could still find the accident report, even if my company pays without going through insurance?

If that turn threw you for a loop, just wait til it’s dark, rainy, you’re exhausted from a 14 hour day, and you gotta maneuver through the hell that is a cramped run down pilot.

    First you failed in cab.
    Then you failed road test.
    What’s next?
    Driving over your first boss?

    UturnGirl Thanks this.

Maybe If I didn't have to spend so much time studying how to get their pre-trip BS exactly right, word for word how they want it, and parallel parking inside of cones, I could have practiced more actual driving in that time frame.

I see you joined in 2013. When did you get yours? I bet you couldn't even pass the pre-trip test if you walked in there today. I know the drivers who took me with 30 years experience saw the process and said if they lost their CDL, they'd probably just retire.

I took drama class for a semester in high school(huge mistake)
The pre-trip reminded me exactly what it was like to memorize a scrip for a play, not anything like anytime I learned how to do anything practical.

Feeling a bit grumpy? It is annoying how they want you to do the ritual dance. But by golly you will never forget to look for anything broken loose cracked or chafed again. Keep the blue star jar handy!

It just seems like the whole thing is designed to force you to sign up for a CDL school, when it's really not necessary. They've taken something non-academic and attempted to turn it into something academic.

I just feel like learning to do the pre-trip is one thing and learning to recite the thing word for word how they want is something completely different.
I could have spent a LOT more time practicing driving if I wasn't so pre-occupied with learning that non-sense. I mean am I learning to drive, or learning to be a diesel mechanic?
