Yes the insurance and just drive it. If you have the temp tag in the window and the dot sticker they would know you just bought it and won't harass you. Especially if you are bobtailing.

You need liability insurance. Unless you're ready to start hauling immediately, call your insurance company and tell them you just purchased the truck and you need just the bare minimum requirements to get the truck home, not for hire. Then take your proof of insurance, title and proof of sale and get your temp plate. I'm sure others will say different but technically this is all you need.

So ive talked to the insurance about it.
Do i need to be leased to a company before i buy the truck or can i put my own name on the insurance until i apply for the company i want to lease?

You can be insured in your own name. I’ve done it many times. Your not for hire. You can call NITIC insurance and they will sell you insurance right over the phone for however many days it takes to move the truck from the dealer to home. About $200.00 if I recall. I’ve moved trucks from Florida to the Midwest and called every scale I may cross and they told me I really didn't even need to stop in the scales because I’m not for hire and it’s personal use only and to prove it the insurance is in my personal name not in a company’s name. I did cross the scales anyway just because I didn’t want to be chased down and then have to explain. Never was called into a scale to show anything

If you have a farm or land you can insure it under a stand alone farm policy for less than $100.00 per month depending on where you live and the liability limits you choose. Just another option to think about .

All I ever had in my possession when I brought a truck home was the bill of sale, Title, Insurance(in my personal name) and temp tag if available. Some states you cant get a temp tag when purchasing from a private party.
