This is one of those things where one runs into drivers from other companies at the docks, an I hear various things.

Anyone with experiences out in the mountain west or southwest, I'd be interested in hearing more. Seems like the pay is a little lower out here that back east.

They pay $20.20 an hour here in Florida, mc-something trucking. Seems like a good gig 36 hours a week, and it'd no touch - so if you live a modest lifestyle and your wife works as well it seems pretty good. Just drive and dock.

The federal government does run there on fleet as well, but it's only in specfic regions I believe. Otherwise all contractors.

*McCormick trucking pays $20.26 just came in my indeed feed.

    Total aside, but -

I’m so glad I did my own thing. Win or lose, when I see

    “ 10 days holiday per year “

I almost puke. To know that used to be a big deal to me. Excited about how much time off I was ‘granted’.

    Sorry -

Carry on folks. Looks like a good gig.

There's a company called Beco out of Commerce City, Co. that hauls all of our mail out of central Colorado. Better know how to "hang iron",,,.

The heyday of private mail haulers has come and went. Due to the lack of mail, many companies don't even haul mail anymore. A good friend of mine runs Sheehy Mail Contractors, out of Waterloo, Wis. used to haul nothing but mail( hence the name) but recently, shifted most of their trucks to freight hauling, so that tells you something. While running mail, they had an "all Pete fleet", and now hauling freight, they have all Volvos and Freightliners. That tells you something too.

I worked for a bulk mail postal hauler in OR last year. Pay was $26 hr which included the $5 medical insurance allowance. My problems were not with the company I hired with, but the post office docks suck..those people are miserable. You have to touch every bit of freight...they are in 'rolloff' cages etc...but, it still takes time and stress. I quit..too much physical for me because I am smaller framed female with asthma. Been driving since the 90's. Hope this helps!

Anybody know anything about Veltri mail hauling contractor? I have a opportunity with the company if I want it. I've never hauled mail before but heard some good things about it. It's a local home everyday gig. Run within a 100 mile radius to different post offices.
