I was trying to remember. I thought they were Jevic and sold out, then stole freight back. Different Company I guess. But reading the very sincere sounding letter, I can’t say as I blame anyone for taking the profits and investing it somewhere else with less risk. Seen a lot of Companies do that with profits. Buying mostly property.

What was their motto? " Keep your eye on the Ball"

    Kinda ironic.

The Shavell company still has warehousing and logistics branches that will not be affected by this. They are filing chapter 11 with the courts for buyouts and putting money aside for pensions and severance. Companies like Duie Pyle and Estes will absorb most of the business probably.

frankly, a lot of NEMF freight was "cheap" freight.

but when we look at the BIG picture, even that cheap freight will fill the gaps of anyone buying portions.

i can "see" longer hours/days for the companies that pick up the customers, maybe even extra line haul drivers to boot.

I don't blame them either. The profit margin in trucking is horrible compared to other industries. I'm astounded on a daily basis at the companies that want to sell their product for a profit and need me to move it but don't want me to make a profit doing it.

I've seen people on here ask about becoming an O/O and be told that they should save up $50k minimum to get started. If I had $50k I would definitely find a better investment than trucking. Lol

at most places you would also need to run hard and almost never get home to make that much

Yeah and I'm too lazy for that. Lol. I usually run 1800-2000 miles a week on a busy week. Last week I did a whopping 1250 miles.

I sometimes get that much. But I'm also in a 65mph on cruise truck dealing with reefer live loads and unloads. Also if parking wasn't horrible. I remember when I was at crst in 2017 I could run until just under a hour left and have a place to stop to swap drivers

Most of the time I run 63mph but multiple stop loads take time. Lol. Pays better than running miles for sure.

Don't know how you guys do it.
I run local/regional with about 5 regular clients that keep us pretty busy. I get hourly locally and the owner has gotten more aggressive with billing for detention (he can print out logs from our ELDs now! "Yes my truck WAS at your place from 7 am to 3 pm!")
I make a little short of a grand per week but I doubt I do more than 1200 miles per week. Again, a lot of it is sitting in NYC, Philly & DC.

I'm not saying these guys were competition for us, they probably have lower rates and deal with Hazmat, but might we be able to peel off a client or two? I'd like that.

    Lonesome and RStewart Thank this.
