You were right, all is not fine. Now my truck sometimes builds air very slowly. It's so weird intermittent problem, I tried to go to a TA for Diagnostics yesterday but by the time they called me it was building air fine. This morning was fine too, but now it's doing it again and I'm afraid to get stuck in traffic because I'm afraid the air won't keep up.

I tried to isolate that air dryer by disconnecting its in and out Lines and just screwing them together, but it was still building slowly. So not the air dryer, I guess? I hope my compressor hasn't gone bad, I just replaced it less than a year ago.

is it freezing out, did you add some air line antifreeze?

I added it into the trailer lines earlier, but that wouldn't affect the problem. Where should I put it instead? Maybe the inbound line for the air dryer? I just figured out how to take it off, so that's easy now...

And yes, it's stupid freezing out, has been since the governor problem 2 days ago

either at the compressor outlet, or the air dryer outlet will work. pour a liberal amount in the lines and try it out.

Okay, I will try that with the air dryer Outlet hose. I know that air dryer is not the problem because I already already bypassed it and it didn't help, and this way I don't overload it with weird chemicals. Also, the air compressor on this truck is super hidden and hard to get to.

Another question, how much air should a healthy compressor put out? When I took off the inlet hose from the dryer, I tried it and it was puffing like a steam train, and the pressure was strong enough that I couldn't block it with my hand but not so strong that it hurt

usually when they start wearing out they will push a lot of oil. when your compressor unloads it will leave an oil spot on the ground, of it you drain your tanks and milky white liquid comes out.

If you could not hold your hand over it, the compressor is putting out enough air. If you have a Cascadia make sure that you have the air dryer update kit installed with the line that extends and loops around below the radiator. Heat from radiator warms the air.

Well, putting the air antifreeze in the line didn't work. Same problem continues. Anything else I can try?

check for air leaking out somewhere, maybe around the air dryer as it's trying to build air. that's about all I have other than to park in a warm shop and thaw it out. does it do the same with or without the trailer air system charged?
