Tedlish mentioned looking into it.
IMO, there isn't a truck out there worth 30k right now, for someone just getting into the biz. If you're determined to do this, keep in mind LTL freight is paying anywhere from .10-.50/mi. With a $30,000 bill, you'd be hard pressed to make that payment.
I don't recommend anyone getting into trucking (especially expediting) right now. Newbs (and most truckers, in general) don't have the patience to sit and wait. That leads to lowballing rates to keep the truck moving; which is what we're going thru now. Then you have to run more miles to make up for the crap you just took; and the freight isn't out there. It's a vicious cycle exacerbated by the fact that few know what they're doing out here. -
Well, I'm working on getting my ducks in a row. I got the insurance taken care of yesterday. My agent will file for the MC stuff. I started the process to get a fictitious business name, set up my company, etc. My new pallet jack arrived today. I have a Haz-Mat certification on my driver's license, but I'm not in a hurry. I'm retired and living on pensions. I just want to travel the country and have someone else pay for it. I live near a logistics airport. I'll start looking around over there and see if someone needs an LTL trucker now and then. Meanwhile my new truck is parked in the park's RV parking lot.
