I would have at least gotten home first. Bailing in the middle of nowhere for your given reason is weak IMHO.
Now if it was a truck safety issue, or the company closed there doors suddenly, or your paycheck bounced, that a whole 'nother matter.

    drive a mixer!

Vegas is always building it would be the perfect place for it.

It’s the best of both worlds. You use your cdl but you aren’t really driving all that much. I could never go back to driving 700 miles a day. I’d rather be out in the sun pouring mud.

  5. Get your hazmat...its easy.... I just did it back in December... after letting it go for 12 years...it opens up a whole new world and more importantly it tells the new company that you can pass background checks.....

If you have small children long haul is not for you....when i first started we didn't have a choice... New drivers have choices now ...

I agree you sholud have stayed with it until you got back to your home terminal... unless you were with that Werner guy... Do not burn bridges in Trucking ....Managers seem to show up in the strangest places throughout your career.

I see this thread got a new reply. I was actually thinking about another one like it. Several weeks ago I was speaking to a fleet owner. (about 150 units) He was looking at a driver to run one of his dedicated accounts. Pulled that drivers DAC noticed these 2 comments on the summary then tossed the entire application in the trash. The first was reason for separation, quit, rehire status, NO NOT REHIRE! Most people that have been around for a few years know what that means.
