I’ve done probably a dozen for LS since June 2018 and this is the first issue I had. I did have one of their brokers get aggravated at me but no issues really, it was cuz the shipper (a solutions plant in Houston) demanded me to leave my phone and driver’s license with the security guard until I was loaded and leaving and I refused to do so and left. My phone runs my logs, not to mention I’m just not gonna do it period. This isn’t elementary school and need to leave stuff with the teacher til the end of the day. It was a hazmat load too, if the government doesn’t see me as a threat and gives me the endorsement there’s no good reason for a shipper to treat me like I’m some kind of threat. I dropped that one and grabbed another one and rolled on.
Anyone else have issues with a Landstar broker?

Every load has its problems. Read your carrier's agreement with Landstar and see how they pay accesorials. Before you leave the wrong address you should contact broker and have them send new rate sheet with added pay. Let broker tell you what to do in writing before you leave wrong address. Landstar is pretty good in listing everything they pay for in contract.
roshea and thepickupman Thank this. -
Maybe that LS broker can’t sleep very good at night and he can’t figure out why ??

I'm a broker myself, but so many bad issues with landstar agents calling on my posted loads. Aside from one guy there I have them on No Load.
AaronP, DUNE-T, PPDCT and 1 other person Thank this. -
For the most part, Landstar agents seem to know little to nothing about the load they are handling. No touch loads requiring a lumper at the point of delivery, wrong information on the rate cons, and not being able to get the broker to answer the phone during the trip just caused me to stop bothering with them. I haven't hauled a Landstar load in about 3 years.

I called them about a load this morning that was 438 miles and 3 stops. They only wanted to pay $750. I laughed and told him good luck on finding someone to do that. It was a light load but full load still. And three stops?! No way for me to justify that.

I dealt with land star as a carrier, luckily never had any issues because i would not let my truck get any where near the load until i walk the whole job with them and verify contacts on both ends. That saved us tons of pain besides we do heavy hauling where my driver load and off load commodity 70-80 % time.
Now as a broker i am glad i dont have to deal with 'em. i know few agents around my town not bad guys to chat but as far as doing business i would be super extra careful with them.Thouren Thanks this.
