I earned my stripes running that area... put some jazz music stay in the major highways and you should be fine

You can keep the LA. Especially south central near the produce market.
I went into NYC while still working out my first year or two in trucking. I did not know enough to understand stress. The people did what they are going to do and I did what I needed to do to stay safe coming and going. There is a old 76 at the exit 7 in Jersey off 78 where we would go in, rest the day before going in there at night having planned out our routes. (This was before computer anything, we did not have any of that so it's all maps on paper) Then we rolled out at 10PM and hit the GWB as a big convoy both levels, whichever one that was flowing the best that moment.
Getting into Hunts Point was it's own battle there is a particular intersection where you turn left to run the hill prior to the property up top where people will cut you off, get in your way and such. What I did was adopt a so called drunken lout trucker attitude yelling profanity and waving a splashing beer bottle out the window, if I got a few suds on a angry car, they vanished wanting no part of me. And so I am able to swing that left without too much trouble.
This was way before the CDL laws of the early 90's So you young uns missed out. Since I did not know any better, it was not stressful to me. Too much.
But I always tried to take about half a day for myself prior to going home to be with family on time off. The monster I was up there was not who they knew growing up at the house. So I had a sort of a double life in those days.
Getting into NYC, anyone can do that. Getting OUT... now that was something else. My first car I ever hit up there? Happened to be the freaking G-Men, the ATF to be exact. He moved, just when I moved for the same spot on the LIE. And whoops. 600 dollars in body damage. Out of my check. I made it back and kept going. But it wont be the last car I hit.rolls canardly and Ffx95 Thank this. -

Not exactly what he said, but that's some funny ship right there.
I see you share my twisted sense of humor.Last edited: Mar 8, 2019

When I was hauling steel I would always try to be in by 6am, sometimes with oversize had to go in even earlier. Switched jobs last year, hauling precast. Well now I'm farther down the list so I get the afternoon appointments, which can be challenging! Going in mid-day and coming out with EVERYONE else...

If it's east of Pittsburgh, PA, it doesn't exist. Easy.
All that territory fell off my map years ago. -
Traffic is traffic. Youll get used to it. Going over the GW headed to The Bronx isn’t any worse than Houston or LA
