Up to you whether or not it's worth it.
Once you're on 64, though, there's not much you can do to shorten the drive. Any other major route is going to add time.Silverdriver Thanks this. -
Well if you ever find yourself coming out "Groveport, Ohio" to "Sarasota, Florida" with a "Boar's Head Load".
Here are a few things to remember...
If you find yourself with only less than two hours for driving.
1- The only "Pilot truck stop" in the area is VERY SMALL and has No Truck Parking!
2- The "Rest Are" at least the one I went to was a Safety Trap.
3- The "Flying J" in the area is "Ridiculously Small" and a safety hazard. (Im not kidding).
4- The "TA" is the only best thing around. It has a a big parking lot, food, showers, truck service, ect. But you have to pay for the parking! Unless you purchase something worth over $20 dollars.
Note: Keep your receipts handy for when you exit!gntorres61, Lonesome and Finfn1372 Thank this. -

On my way back to the mothership from Montreal. Been in Canada twice in 4 days this week. Was suppose to be home today but got the call, we need a favor. Ok, cool bring it on. So, it was a stressful last 4 days, but at least my load home is sitting in Richmond. I’ll be in about 2pm. Right now I’m getting ready for bed at the Pilot in Milford Ct.
Vacation is a few weeks away, 3 weeks traveling around Italy starting April 3rd.Lonesome, gntorres61, MidWest_MacDaddy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well, this is a first since returning...
(Not complaining as I’ve been lucky)
Got up to PA over Wednesday night and shut down around 3am... napped, bumped the dock at 8ish... then hit Loves for a 10...
got a load to be at a drop n hook before 11pm... got here, anyone that knew anything left before 6pm...
take another 10 and then try to find someone to give me a trailer as no one has the number on our side...
“oh, that load? Another driver took it.”
Send in a QC... wait an hour... call in...
Ya, Planner is looking...
called back again in the after noon...
Called to talk to night shift...
“Nothing in that area without a long deadhead which I can’t authorize.”
Ok, guess I’ll try my luck in the morning.
Like I said, first time since returning that I’ve been down with out it being mechanical... so I was due... count my blessing and enjoy the lovely view of empty docks... lolLonesome, Silverdriver and JohnBoy Thank this. -

Any of you the unlucky one broke down on 64 in Huntington tonight?

I tell ya, it’s not cool when you are a local driver who, when told they were to run tidewater when they were switched to local, hasn’t run tidewater since the personnel switch 3 weeks ago. I was giving them a chance to get things straight, but last night was the last straw. I WILL be my usual charming self (hahaha) Monday when that person comes back in. I’ll even play the recording of the conversation when I was “offered“ this local “opportunity”. (Yes, I record phone calls, in person conversations that I know could be turned around, etc. Been burned one too many times.)
Now, before y’all jump on me and say I could’ve stayed in the truck, it doesn’t idle AND the bunk heater doesn’t work. And no, they won’t fix it because 1.) I’m a local driver who does not sleep in it, and 2.) it has 600k on it. So, per a conversation with our DDM (who was still there at 8 pm when I returned to the yard last night in an extremely irritated mood) I went to the hotel. All well and good, except that I don’t even have a hairbrush, toothbrush, change of clothes, or anything since the changing of trucks debacle. Actually, I shouldn’t even need them ever, but I did have a few things JUST IN CASE.
Well, time to get down to the free breakfast and head back to work. It’s going to be a good day. I’m headed to south hill to try to deliver this load. I hope the guy doesn’t answer his phone at this clothing place and I have to drag it back here. Hehehe Y’all have a good one.JoeyJunk, Lonesome, MidWest_MacDaddy and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm headed to West Jefferson today. I checked the weather radar; and it looks like I'm going to have a snow fun day!
MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this.
