I don’t, but my uncle does and my wife’s uncle does. They operate 6 or 7 trucks between them.

The op will say that customers don't play fair. They only deal with large carriers, or people who "pay to play". The guy will find any excuse as to why he is not sucsesful.

Space shuttle is hand built, by thousands of the worlds top engineers and physicists, it costs billions to build and only lasts 2-3 flights before having to be completely torn down and rebuilt, if that.

Trucks are built in factories for speed, with cheap parts outsourced for price, designed by college drop outs (maybe a dozen) in the engineering world, and auto cad novices, all build for profitability instead of longevity, assembled by the lowest bidder, and sold for the highest price they can get, only to get 500,000 miles out of them.

Ya. Cant compare the two. One is designed to literally overcome downward acceleration of 9.81m/s×mass. The other is run by a mouth breathing diabetic with rotting feet and compression socks because he can't put down the cheese burger and go for a walk.

These are my family members, not friend of a friend.

But, this isn’t about me. It’s about the op who gets butt hurt because he can’t make any money. So, because he can’t, the whole industry must be evil. That simply isn’t true. You can make money.

p.s. just to be clear, I wouldn’t buy a truck in a million years. But, it’s not because money can’t be made. It’s because of my family members (again). I see first hand the effort they put in to run FULLY SELF DEPENDENT businesses and, quite frankly, I am not willing to put that kind of effort into it.

I’m quite happy skating along with my $1400 guaranteed company gig for 8 more years until retirement. :)

I suggested it to the op because he seems to be so disgruntled that perhaps he should do it. Then, when he fails or succeeds, there’s no one to blame or congratulate but himself. ;)

Once again I'll have to say it since so many aren't listening. This is America. If you work hard you can have a good life. Don't waste it. Stop complaining and find a way to make it in this world.

This thread is a support group for the guys who want to feel good about having no life and working twice as much for below average wages, no speaking of other indignities and damages to body, mind and self-rezpect trucking biz delivers by boatloads. For as long as they can point at somebody who knows someone who make decent wages they call the troops to stand neck deep in crap and wait for the proverbial opportunity which always presents itself to the right people.

After reading truckersreport forums for a while I strongly believe that 100k/year + company paid benefits and perks are a norm in this biz. If you don't have that there must be something wrong with you. It is just like alternative reality forums. There are suckers who buy into creative writing these forums provide. My theory is that truckers just want to trap those unsuspecting souls.
