Night shift guys stick it. But most of my drops are not that close to overfilling. Gallons ordered fit just fine. I had a close one and had to call dispatch to verify if it can fit. Brand new store so they have good readout on veeder root

I had a veeder once tell me there was a 3" in the tank. My stick said there were 47" in the tank.

Yea... never trust the veeder. Actually I’m at wrok right now and the station I just left. The veeder said there was 52 inches and stick said that it was empty... I had to go back a double check that the time on the veeder was correct.

I didnt realize it was the pumps trying to suck fuel. I guess because they wanted to sell every drop.
I had one go off on me as well , the flapper didn't work either so didn't know until after I was done. I knew it was going to be close though. I always stick no matter what. I have also found that you need to vent the tank before you do or it could cause up to a 10 inch difference.

I start my first fuel hauling job next week. I'm starting on nights. I'm really looking forward to the change away from flatbed.

Good luck. Take your time. Double check everything. Ask questions, there’s no stupid questions in this line of work

It was some time ago but I stuck every tank before I dropped. They were just getting the auto tank readers installed but I never trusted them. I could get a better reading off my stick and reading a tank chart than any auto reader (back then).

Having hauled for a dedicated carrier was nice because we had no pump offs. You just took the remaining load to the next station. However, I bumped in many of loads. Our stations could sell 100 gallons within minutes so I didn't wait long, if any. That's before the 90% full law went into effect.
