IFTA decals are a favorite of the Arizona port of entry, especially the one on 40 coming in from New Mexico. They have a whole wall of decals that they seized for bwing fake or improper.

If you really need to make the trip just buy the temporary fuel permits, kinda a waste but better than getting fined and being forced to buy the fuel permit anyway.

Any permit service, Comdata is the .most popular but there are others. Some states you can get them yourself online, need to search fuel and trip permits for each state you will travel thru.

If he already has the permit. What good would a temporary do? He still wouldn't have a sticker. Correct?

With the temporary permit no decal is required. As he is now he has the IFTA credential but no decal. The credential alone is not valid without the decal.

Having the temporary permit allows a truck to run without decals, just have to show the trip permit to the officer. Two different pieces of paper for the same rule.

Stupid. Yes, but it is the way the regulations work.

snowwy and Long FLD Thank this.

Wyoming asked me for the IFTA certificate when I went thru the Evanston port of entry a few days ago along with my truck’s registration. I guess they’re getting very technical.

I ran for a week a few years back without stickers. Got Dot inspected. Due to tint on my side window. I showed him my ifta paperwork. He just said they are slow mailing them sometimes. That was Ny. State I would think if some one would give a ticket for that they would. They are alittle money hungry.

Wyoming has always asked for that. Sometimes insurance too.

Not the past few times I’ve been through. Sometimes they just ask me for the load paperwork, what I’m hauling, where it’s going and they let me go.
