I agree heavy! I never shut down a hot engine .
I'm breaking in a new engine now .
Ran it hard up the shoe tonight to park at the 147 and took a good 20 minutes for the coolant and oil temp to drop off before I shut it off .

Mine warms up real nice as I scream down the side road at 4000rpm while I'm still half asleep.

Don’t have this APU, but use about the same system.
So it could be 10 minutes, could be an hour........
Just depends on my mood at the time.

Thing you've got to remember too is there are other fluids in a truck other than coolant and engine oil. You've got power steering fluid, transmission oil and rear axle/hub oil. The engine may be warm but the other fluids aren't. Best to drive it easy for the first 15 minutes to let everything warm up a bit, longer in cold weather.

I don't roll until the water temp is at 125 degrees. And then I'll baby it until it's at operating temperature. I hear these Cat engines are expensive to fix, and I don't wanna be the cause of it breaking.

I warm mine up for about 20 minutes or so, even know it says these new engines dont need it, i disagree, i was an equipment operator before a truck driver and i could never bring myself to put a diesel engine to hard work without getting her warmes up first, its no different than people, who wakes up and then goes on a full running sprint down the street, got to warm up and stretch first

Engine makers will tell to start it an run it with out warm up. They want you to blow it more money for them on a sale of a new engine.

You're probably old school, but nothing reaches operating temperature by idling. You will spend less time driving easy than 20 minutes just sitting there.

    D.Tibbitt and AModelCat Thank this.

Turn the key, do a walk around, when the air button stays in, time to go.
