Few weeks ago i drove with a rented private car through a red light, half a second from when it turned red. The car's host got that 325 bucks fine now.
I think about taking it to court, claiming i didnt stop for safety reasons (it was also snowy). A folk here who is a truck driver advised me not to do it- because red light camera offense is
A. Less severe than speeding for example
B. One cannot tell for sure who was driving. Once i take it to court, would be like admitting that i was the driver at the time.
What does all of this have to do with a trucking forum? I am planning on doing the trucking licence here. Right now studying for my G1. That's also why this friend of mine advised me not to fight it. A future trucker want his driving record clean.
When i did the offense, i was (and still) driving with my foreign driving licence. My question- if i take it to court , and i guess it will take half a year until the court date. Until then I'll have an AZ maybe. If i then be found guilty, will it be written on my Canadain driving record, or not (since when the offense happened i didnt had a Canadian driving licence yet)?

Are there points associated with the ticket??? If not i wouldn’t fight it.. most red light offences don’t end up in tickets unless the proof is pretty solid ..
-
Many years ago I got a red light ticket, was well under the speed limit, touched my brakes and started to slide on the ice and loose sand, looked in my rear mirror and saw a car fast approaching, so rather than take a chance on being rear ended I coasted through the intersection.
Went to court to fight it, they wouldn't drop the charge but cut the ticket by half and no points on license.
I fear that's the best you can hope for. -
Pay it. Don’t fight it. It’s a no points ticket. If you go to court, you have to admit you were driving, and I watched someone do that to a magistrate when they were trying to fight it. As soon as he said he was driving under oath, the ticket stood and points assessed as if he was pulled over by an officer. Just pay the stupid tax and move on.

I am pretty sure camera tickets don't go on the MVR. Pay and forget about it
Opus Thanks this. -
Question is will the points ,if i go to court, be subjected to the driving licence i was driving with at the time of the offence, or they will be written under the canadian licnece I might have at the day of the trail?
Also, the host do a process with the Turo app (where i rented the car from) to move the responsibility of the ticket from him to me. Does it means that now I'll also be sunjected to points? Or that it will be written on my driving record?Last edited: Mar 15, 2019

Your license stands whichever is valid.
The only way you can have two licenses in a different country IS to have your original home resident license and a international license issued to you to drive in a different country or drive here in the USA. Those licenses are usually valid for only a year.
Ever since the CDL Licensing kicked in back in the 90's you can only have one license. -
It is possible in Ontario Canada.

Don't know about Canada, but in Texas, pay it and nothing more is said.
Pay it and drive on -
