Might not be the typical question you guys get in here but any one got any advice on dealing with heel spurs.

They only hurt after I've been off my feet for a while. Spent 5 hours behind the wheel the other day and could barely get out of the truck.

Once I'm on my feet a few minutes I'm good to go, it's just getting on my feet!

You go to a doctor and have them taken care of.
That’s what you pay your medical coverage premium for.
Modern technology and techniques, they use a scope and laser to remove them. Hobble in walk out an hour or so later.

Are you sure they're spurs? I thought I did and so did my doctor. He sent me to a podiatrist and he said they were nothing. Plantar fasciitis is what he diagnosed. 2 days after getting cortisone shots I was running!

Seriously? Didn't know it was like that. Last person I knew who had it done was off their feet for 2 weeks and on crutches for a couple week after they got back to walking. That was almost 20 years ago too...

Someone else mentioned plantar fascitis to me today. Might have to ask the doc about it. She diagnosed heel spurs just off symptoms, but apparently both heel spurs and PF have the same symptoms.

Podiatrists are more familiar with it. When I went in he squeezed right above the heel on the ankle and asked "does this hurt?" When I jumped off the table he said "that's not bone spures!"

I just went through the exact symptoms. It happened to me 10 years ago and was diagnosed as PF. It hurt enough that I was happy to receive a series of shots in the bottom of my foot. Cleared it up for 10 years. Just went through the same symptoms and series again. 3 shots spaced out 2 weeks apart and it’s cleared up. It’s not bone spurs and there’s a much simpler relief than surgery. You’ll start feeling much better after the first shot and will have forgotten about it after the third.

To my understanding Plantar fasciitis is an over stressed tendon pulling on the bone of the heel. This actually causes the bone to grow forward where it is attached to the heel. I was told there are actually three of them after I had surgery done to elongate one. Then it was better but I still had the problem.
I also did the shots as JR but I was spotting trailers in a cab over and working cows. Then I was Super Man. When all that wore off I was worse off than before. They did not explain exactly that those shots are for inflamation. That worked out well for JR but what caused it?
Quit swinging out of those cab overs on the grab handles, leaping off the deck plates or out of the back of those trailers. Anything that impacts a hard surface. Get three different pairs of shoes and wear them every third day.
When our feet are at rest they tend to straighten out with our legs and those tendons contract. When we move them that causes them to stretch and causes the pain.
Google exercises for this condition. Exercise, no bouncing on the concrete, sleep with a five strap foot brace for three months before you consider surgery.
Go see a doctor! Why ask on a truck forum. I do not thank it was understood what I did on my job.

If it's plantar fasciitis, cortisone and norcaine shots work. My wife and a good friend had it and those shots did the trick. It took three months at 1 shot per, but she's pain free and before that she couldn't walk from the house to the car.

Try getting some blood to your feet before standing. Then off to find a podiatrist whose parking lot will accommodate your rig. Or maybe you can drop your trailer nearby.

go to your primary doctor, he/she may have to refer you (by your medical benefits rules) to a podiatrist.

most likely you will have x-rays done for a proper diagnosis..

my sister had one, and it was a quick removal process.
