New Galaxy not coming on unless you key the mic

    I’m new to all this... I know enough to get into trouble. I ran new coax. Tuned SWR below 1.5 on ch 1 and 40. Bought a brand new galaxy 959 out of the box. Hooke it up it turned on just fine. I put the mic on and it goes dead. Key the mic up everything turns back on and radio lights up. Let go of the key it goes dead. Pull the mic turns back on. I’ve tried several different mic. Same thing. What am I screwing up. Thanks for any help.

    Sounds to me like the factory has the mic socket wired up wrong on the radio, especially since the power switch seems to work correctly. Hopefully you can return the radio and exchange it for another one.

    Is the swr switch in the center under mod? If I remember if it's over to power it turns the display off. I could be wrong. But, I'm thinking there is a switch or knob that does that.
