Well with everything going on I have gotten behid
So Day #5 was much the same , worked in yard on a different section of pre trip . Worked on range on reverse lane change, and also got to go out on road with a trailer
Day #6 is a Saturday, and yes you will be there for the full day , until 630 pm on Saturday too. But we spent most of the first part of day in class doing mechanical review. For a mechanic this part was tough for me because the urge to correct the instructor, who is /was a driver not a mechanic . Then we finished up last part by reviewinf pre trip up until lunch. We also walked next door to the actual testing pad to look at where the tests will actually take place with the state guys.... just a little note. They set the practice range up shorter and narrower than the actual testing pad. Seeing the actual testing pas drew a little sigh of relief from everyone in the class
After lunch we went out to range and worked on Reverse lane change for a bit and then when ready we switched to parallel parking and worked on that for rest of the day.
Day #7 is Sunday and it is rest and relaxation day. Hit the Casino that is about 15 minutes away and went to The Battlefield of Fallen timbers which is an interesting little trail to walk .

No, because I am not even a company employee yet so a referral does nothing for me
Newb2019 Thanks this. -
The day-by-day helps a lot. -
So I guess this would be what , day 10. Day 8 and 9 were pretty reprepitiitve . Road time , range time , pre trip work .
So today was much the same . Got today, Friday and Saturday and then state test on Monday . Have done straight line back, reverse lane change and parralel park. Still have yet to work on alley dockNewb2019 and Chinese Bandit Thank this. -
SO yesterday was Saturday, was day 12 of school. and the final day of the actual school. We basically spent the whole day on the range trying to perfect our backing maneuvers. Then around 5pm our class was brought back into the building. We did some wrap up paper work. Watched a power point with a talk about safety, trucking life etc. We took a class pic and individual pics, got a certificate , and had some cake.
So we finished the actual school yesterday but still have to state test tomorrow. Out of our 6 person class there are only three of us actually testing. There were 4 CFI people in the class but one of them already had a CDL but they made him go as a refresher. SO he doesnt test. The other two people are manual testing so they come back for 4 more day of class. Thats something that should be pointed out. CFI only sends you to school for automatics.
SoI state test tomorrow. The test site is actually on the grounds of Trainco. It is actually called the NorthWest CDL Testing Center. They are separate companies(as required by state law) but the same guy who owns Trainco, owns the testing center. SOme of the Trainco instructors are also examiners, but they are not allowed to test Trainco students.
I am first test at 8 am , assuming I pass, as soon as I am done I will head straight for CFI orientation in Taylor MI and just get there late for that first day.
I have to be honest, I am nervous for the test,Newb2019 Thanks this. -
Today was test day
Aced my pre-trip, as a truck mechanic it would be pretty sad if i didnt, but got 86 out of 90
No points on straight line back or reverse lane change.
Ohio does it so you are going to get parallel park or alley dock as your third skill. I got parallel . I think I may have used and extra pull up or two over the allowed two, but had plenty of points to burn and still pass
Road test was no problem its not like I havent been driving these truck for a while.
So I passed my test , and CFI told Trainco they want me there as quick as possible. SO I went and packed up and checked out of the hotel , stop at DMV and got my license and headed for Taylor.
By time I got there the guy who had been there since 8 am were almost done. So I filled out a bunch of papers , watched a few dumb videos about their per diem program and sexual harassment etc. She said we should be done by wednesday eveningNewb2019 Thanks this. -
Congrats!
