So, as one of the previous posters stated... they wanted to know if I would quit to come on and explain why.

So, I know there have been a lot of people rooting for me on here and I appreciate the support! I want to start out by saying that. Now then; with that being said, I’d like to say that I have quit CFI on a good note. Atleast from what I understand anyway... There is no bad blood between me and the company. When I first started on this journey I really was not sure what I was getting into. I figured that it would be close to a same schedule daily for sleeping habits, and found out real quick that was not the case by any means. That on top of the food at the Love’s stations all over were the same thing over and over... after 3 days I was trying to find anything new.

A friend of mine that I met in school all the way up through orientation and going to Joplin to wait on our finishers told me “This is a lifestyle, not just a job. It’s not for everybody!”. She was totally right!

As for training. My trainer was very respectful and taught me quite a bit while I was with him. Nothing bad there.

Time away from home... again, by speaking with my finisher and a few people here and there... in order to make any real money I’d have to be out for 2-3 months minimum. With my 2 year old son and wife’s health issues, I just don’t think that I can do that.

There’s more I’d love to talk about and maybe in future posts I will. However, I wanted to come on here and say that I have even more respect for all OTR Driver’s than I already did! Thank you all for the encouraging words and I will keep everyone abreast of what happens with my future!

We went from leaving for Joplin from MI today , to leaving on Friday to not knowing when we are going because they don't have drug test results back from a test I took 3 weeks ago

It's a lifestyle, no doubt. I started late, only missed my son's highschool years, but still I regret it. Food does get better over the road when you are by yourself. With a toddler, no way, you did the right thing.

There may be local jobs where your CDL isn't wasted and you are home every day.

Best of luck to you man!

Rooster Jr's 21st birthday today. Lunch with his grand parents, happy hour with me and dinner with his mom. The kid will be a fat drunk before the day is over!

No golf yet, bad weather, yikes! Will try to squeeze in on round before I leave on the 26th

i agree that this is a lifestyle. there are things that you can do to stay healthy and eat right. myself and others on here have a 12v freezer. my wife makes my food and puts it in an aluminum pan (can be bought at any truckstop). i have a small lunchbox oven (again, can be bought in just about any truckstop). i have a coffee maker (personal preference) and i dont buy water at truck stops. i fill my water jugs up at terminals and/or i ask when loading or unloading if i can fill them up. ive never had anyone say no. about the only thing i get at a truckstop is fuel and use my points to get a big cup of coffee or some Bai. as for staying out for 2-3 months to make money...thats crazy. i dont know what your situation is other than what you posted, but you can be home every weekend or other weekend and make $500+ a week. im sure someone would argue "not where i live" but i would bet that theres some company hiring in your area that could get you home regularly, pay a "living" wage and get you OTR credit. CFi has regional stuff, werner will take you on and put you on dollar general if you want to be home regularly, plus make you a trainer after 6 months. schnieder has stuff on their website. just fill in your zip and it will say whats available and hometime. you just have to give it a look.

About a dozen tractors bt waiting for loads. Waiting Wed then got a two stop in Lincoln (24 mi) for today. Then going to Tacoma. Hopefully that breaks me out of the slump. See what happens after that

Lmao my new dash cam came in and this thing is soooooo small but according to reviews I've read it's going to be a good find for it's price. Especially considering it can do more than the top of the line Garmin and randmcnally IMG_20190321_103532.jpg

Uploading a short clip to YouTube for you guys soon if your interested in the dashcam so you can see it's quality. I'm very impressed with it for only 44$. And the best part is the mobile app to view and download your clips etc..
