Finally got my own truck

The word idiot comes to mind. Maybe it’s me... but when you can start at a company for .50/mile with no worries of any payments or breakdowns and benefits. Yea I guess it’s me.

 

It all depends on the details.

 

1.09-1.20 a mile is all the details I need.

 

Nobody is being forced to run for that amount, but people choose to do it unfortunately.

 

Nah. It’s not hard to judge a pos. Just .60/mile more on 100,000 is $60,000 a year. All the deep discounts you can add won’t make up that much. They’d have to pay for all the fuel to even get close to coming out. These lease purchase are scams that only benefit the company.

 

I was gonna say, they would have to pay for literally everything except my truck and driver to run for that.

I think some people just feel more comfortable with a mega and running with the herd feels more safe and less vulnerable.

My company advertises around 40 cents more per mile on average and struggles to get calls but people love to go run themselves to death for a mega just so they can feel part of the herd and safe all the while they’re being taken advantage of. Similar deal as to why people go run for Amazon. Totally being taken advantage of but hey it’s amazon so must be a good deal!

 

The way I see it, if I can make fair to good money running o/o for a mega while I am learning, I should be able to survive lean times on my own after I have a better handle on being an o/o.

Almost anyone can jump in as an o/o and make money when the rates are good.

 

Bring back set minimum hauling rates and everything would be solved in the trucking industry pay wise and driver retention wise.... everyone who hauls cheap freight and doing lease purchases has contributed to the problems we have today...... your mega carriers are letting you run for less money while they are taking everything off the top n putting it In their pocket, plus overcharging you for plates insurance, paperwork etc etc etc it’s not hard to figure out

 

I’m not being ugly but if i wanted to I could work for some companies and make more than you can leasing. I don’t want to live in a truck so I don’t make as much and I’m fine with that. There are some companies paying a flat salary every week regardless of the miles.
