I can't wait for one of them to screw up and kill a church bus.

Hope it costs them $500m or some ridiculous amount.

Getting state permission for a driverless truck with a safety driver is one thing but with no driver period is another.. least on a large scale basis

I also would love to see them fill Pennsylvania getting stuck all over that blessed commonwealth after they have been banned prior to a little winter storm.

Or line up and roll onto 80 in wyoming after it's been closed in a blizzard. First big gust of wind shoves em onto grass and deep snow. Ergo stuck.

I think even if the technology is there, there's still many other hurdles to overcome to make it actually happen. Liability. Legality. Cost. Insurance. Is the computer able to drive as well as a human with that feel you get in the seat of your pants if it's almost freezing.

In the end it will come down to can it be done cheaper than how we do things now. Where is the return on investment. Not at all a clear path to money, at least in my mind.

Thay being said I am also considering starting an orchard...

Looks like they will get a bunch of investors and make tons of $$$$$ in the process, otherwise dont see it ever working except in a very limited and controlled environment

Costs won’t really go down if a real driver needs to meet it at each end to do a switch .. The savings won’t be enough to cover the huge outlay of cash ..

I had a article not too long ago somewhere that Amazon has teamed up with a trucking company to run robots in their blue rigs on 10 from Texas west for about a 600 mile block. Who knows. It's going to happen like it or not. The cost savings in not paying a trucker .50 a mile or more should be worth a try.

Even so I am against the #### things. It's amazing on one hand, but I feel humans are superior in this area where safety matters. (For the most part...)
