That all sounds terrific. My biggest reservation at this point would be getting stuck with night shifts, possibly for years, at this point in my life/career. I'm one of those people that sees night driving, especially in bad weather, as way less safe than day driving.

Out here in socal for me nights is the only way to go. Less traffic, stress, and a shorter commute time. But the fact that we have a driver starting every hour is nice because with seniority you can choose what ever you want. Unlike most other jobs that have only one day shift and one night shift.

Same here. I just bid on a morning shift this year but will be going back to an afternoon start cause of the traffic cluster.
Plus I chose to work weekends because no management are working so I get at least 2 days of peace and quiet..lol

Most hospitals were night deliveries and you could count on at least once a week finding some surgeon's Mercedes parked over the O2 concrete pad 'cause he was called in at 0230 to sew up someone.

After the hour it took to get the Dr.s keys; it would take another hour -or- so to get housekeeping out to clean up the concrete.

Mercedes, like Harleys, mark their spot. You can't off load O2 over asphalt as any contact with oil is an explosion; that's the reason for the concrete pad in the first place! At least once a week I had to threaten to pull the truck to get the housekeeping supervisor to send someone out with detergent and a mop.

Mother Cabrini Hospital was the exception; Carbonic's dispatcher screwed up and sent one at night.

High rise hospital adjacent to a Manhattan high rise apartment and the hookup was at the end of an alley between the two buildings ending with a little overhead shelter.

Rainy summer night. PTO driven 440V alternator to power the cyro pump, had to pull the throttle out ALL the way and let the dog bark.

The driver was standing under the overhead and he leaned out to check the gauges in the bucket box and leaned back under cover JUST in time to miss the garbage bag bomb from the apartment building.

I'd bet it would have killed or done serious damage to the driver.

My actual start date was supposed to be Friday the 29th. My wife had oral surgery scheduled that morning so I was in a real dilemma. Do I call and postpone my first day of work or let down my wife by having our son attend her surgery? I mean, you don’t call in on your first day of work! But, who gives a Friday start date. In phone conversations, I was told the Monday the 1st but didn’t notice my offer letter stated Friday the 29th. I’m sure you can guess who won this one
I called the general manager and told him the situation on the Monday before. The GM told me it was no problem, that they just wanted my benefits to start right away in April. Just come in on Monday the 1st. Honestly, with that I’m walking in on Monday quite impressed! Now, I’ll probably walk in with ChickFilla breakfast bites to show my appreciation!!!

The pony motor might not bother people out in the oilfield, but in town I'm surprised they haven't come up with an electric pump for the hydraulic pump, the weight with batteries can't be that different and it's not like they can't recharge them while driving.
