A year or so ago Qual Comm sold part of it's system. The tracking part I think it was to a company I never heard of. Probably a new venture capital company. The change over was going to take a year or so to accomplish. We are now into it.
But to raise prices I doubt it. The company I am leased to will be charging us about $20 a month less when we put in the new QC unit. NO LOGGING just tracking of certain loads.
If I am told I have to run a EOBR for logging I will retire. Not happening.

We were on paper before they switched to peoplenet. I have used Qualcomm in previous jobs and prefer it over peoplenet. I have had a ton of software issues with peoplenet on the phones in the trucks. Have had to reinstall the app at least 5 times. And the best solution so far has been to put phone in airplane mode and leave it there. Of course that forces me to make my precalls to my customers on my personal phone as well as run drive app on there. Way to go JB Hunt you figured out how to same money by having me use my data plan that I pay for instead of yours. I'm job hunting!!!!

PeopleNet as of 2018 has chronic issues with stabiltiy as a platform. I as a former driver was completely screwed when the system went down (even with using paper logs as a backup). As a driver, I did miss the QualComm; because QualComm to me was better at maintaining information until completion of the load.

I once asked a guy who owned a paving company why they bought all international trucks. He said its simple. The international dealership gave him and a couple of other guys a week long fly in fishing trip every year.

Qualcomm is too busy making the processors in your latest Samsung galaxy or favorite choice of android device.

If they took qualcomm out of the truck, that would mean they need to replace me too. I had a CDL 31 years total in my life and they are going to have to start over. Took me 20 years to master QC.

    I despise change.
