Seasonal trucking work

For me dirt work pays good in the summer time even though it's short up here in Alaska.
Most highway and Federal jobs up here pay anywhere from $36 to $62 a hr for a company driver depending on the degree of davis-bacon.
Side dump, belly dump even end dump work.
Seasonal local work on highway and military projects. Most of these jobs pay really good if you have some skills.

Winter time seasonal work depending on where you live. Heating oil delivery straight talk, and gas station deliveries tanker.
Up here for some reason it doesn't pay all that good compared to dirt work but it's work.
Heating oil delivery usually pays in the $20 to $30 hr.

 

Can you point me to the cities or towns in Alaska that are more davis bacony than the others?
I keep looking on craigslist and the pay seems terrible .
I would love to break into seasonal dirt work at a decent wage

 

i do a lot of construction/side dump/belly dump work, its seasonal and pays decent, im a o/o though. i do haul other things as well though. in the off seasons. i tend to take it fairly easy in the winter though and spend some time at home.

Buy a hot dog cart!
In the 80's I drove for an O/O with 2 trucks and we had this conversation one day about parking the trucks for the summer and buying a couple hot dog carts from an established vendor who was retiring when the opportunity presented itself.
He showed us his books and we figured we could park the trucks, keep up the payments, make a living wage, show a profit and watch pretty girls all summer instead of dodging tourists and dealing with construction and all the rest of inconveniences that come with the season.
Just an outside the box suggestion that might be worth looking into.

 

A friend set up a hot dog stand, I took a look at his books. Minus the hotdogs, bread and so forth.

He made out really well. It's always the smallest thing...

 

Can you recommend some of the larger nationwide temp services out there?

 

Where? California?

 

Do temp services hire for all over the country or just the state they're in?
