Yes. Go in to small towns where nobody is paying attention lol. I know when things need addressed at the federal level the discussion is moved to a quiet Amish community.
Also, blocking the road is the equivalent of a kid laying down and throwing a temper tantrum.

To me it’s all about image, if we don’t fix our image, almost nobody will care about our industry related friction. Fix the image, restore the respect. It’s much more complicated than that, but that’s the basics of it.Trucker61016, Intothesunset, G13Tomcat and 3 others Thank this. -
It will be like all the other ones; a few trucks will remain in the truck stop parking area, but 99% will leave and be on their way delivering freight.
Even the one years ago when 10's of thousands of truckers shut down, mostly union outfits, and they were actually killing drivers that kept driving; that one was a complete failure also.
One driver was 100% disabled for life when a trucker threw a commode off an over pass and it crashed through another truckers windshield, hitting him in the chest and ruining his life.
My friend was surrounded by cars that forced him off the road, then they put a gun to his head and forced him to drive to a rest area and park. Told him if he moved before the shutdown was over they'd kill him.
He had a heart attack at the rest area and almost died; he had real problems with his health after that.
If you don't like the way the system is working; find another career. A shutdown won't do anything except anger the rich and powerful and the politicians and they'll make it worse for us.
Many of us have the resiliency to make the current system work for us and have an excellent career with a high standard of living for our families.Last edited: Apr 7, 2019

stillwurkin, homeskillet, Cattleman84 and 1 other person Thank this. -
There is just no way I can shut my operation down for a day. However, I’d be happy to donate to something like that. -

You cannot organize truckers to agree on one item and move as a collective (Borg?) on one goal. It is too much like herding cats and dogs.
Truckers have rage struck or strikes, whatever the proper tense in the past for many issues which continued to grind onwards, for example 1.99 Fuel. The air was blue with shutdown talk at 2.00 well... maybe a few stopped and a few others like myself found 1.30 fuel. (That business owner was the one who lost out advertising that when he had to get a shipment to feed a miles worth of trucks waiting on his cheap fuel price.
Its a free country within boundaries. You can shut down and park it and stay home happy on your principle. Others will book that freight. But you cannot shut down the interstate. It's a example. There is a fine line between acting what you think is right and running afoul of the Community or even Country. -
I believe they chise April 12 cause it coincides with the 1 year mark for hard enforcement of the ELD Mandate... Just a bunch of whiny babies throwing a tantrum... When I was a kid a tantrum didnt do you any good, just got you a blistered butt.
