With gps, wi-fi, and cell signals, I read that eventually everyone will have e- log. I am not a fan of e-log, but its workable. Just learn how to "run" it, I would say.

The No Parking signs are going up because we are our own worst enemy. It costs people money, be it a state, municipality, or private business, to go and clean up after drivers. The bottles of pee, bags of feces, and bags of trash don’t remove themselves. It’s easier to hang a $10 sign one time than it is to pay someone $15 an hour to go clean up the area time and time again.

And regulating shippers and receivers is a terrible idea. I don’t think people have thought about the unintended consequences of this at all.

And after reading some of the other replies I’d like to add that nowhere in the hours of service does it say you have to sleep for 10 hours.

I remember when there were listening sessions at the truck shows around the time of the notices of proposed rule making.

Out of thousands of attendees looking at the truck show, a mere handful bothered to weigh in.

The ship sailed long ago, and I don’t honestly think they had any intention of listening to truckers anyhow.

I’ve been required to run e logs for 8 or 9 years now, and I simply adapted.

E-logs aren't ever going away. Big companies wanted it regulated across the board their way and big companies always get what they want. Next on the big companies agenda is speed limiter regulations for all of us and that's coming to pass by whichever Republican or Democratic administration replaces Trump.

I love how drivers complain about too many regulations then turn around and want more regulations.

Right. The Government needs to stay out of my business but they need to get into someone else’s business and “fix” it because I don’t like it.

Exactly! The ATA and other large associations are the puppet of the mega carriers. The mega carriers will do everything in their power to limit the competitive edge of small carriers.

And if the small carriers and owner ops had the ability to stick it to the mega carriers - they would.

80 posts and nothing being said.

Look if you support this crap, good for you but it won't do a thing except piss people off.

If you want to actually change things, the take a neutral political position, and fight it politically.

But if you want to just sit on the side lines, then don't complain.

Because ... we are our own worst enemy.

    Not the state dot

    Not the fmcsa

    Not the ATA

    AND not republicans or democrats

We are our own worst enemy.

Yes the hos is a mess, it is there to solve one problem and only one problem .... to limit the abuse of drivers by the carriers, but it has been shaped, crafted and folded for safety reasons. If you can't work within the 11/14 time, then you have the problem and to expect to have some special considerations because of the freight is just plain dumb.

I am all for the return of the 1962 hos regs, with the interpretations from the 70's which allowed the driver to control more. I am not for gutting it and giving the driver complete control because too many drivers are just stupid and can add or subtract.

Eld is not the problem either, asking or begging for it to go away is futile. It won't be going away.

So if you don't believe what I say, look around, see how many drivers actually talk fade to face, how many of them call on their fellow drivers when they take a dump at the fuel isle or dump a gallon of piss out their window on a hot day. Until we stop acting like crybabies and more like adults to take control of our industry to change things ...

It will always be like this, and the government/public won't give a crap.
