I had a cop pull me over because when he ran my tags they didn't show registered for some reason. After 30 minutes someone finally was able to figure out why they weren't coming up. He literally told me we have been sitting to long for him to not write me on something. He wrote me on a seatbelt violation. Thankfully, I had a dash cam going that recorded the conversation so I took it to court partially because I was getting in trouble from the company for not having my seatbelt on. Thankfully the judge threw it out.

Cops around Knoxville are known for being hardasses, I don't know if all the stories are true, for instance, taking money from people because it tested positive for drugs, or confiscating linear amps from truckers, but I do know that in all my years as a driver, the only time I had a drug dog on my truck was in a rest area south of Knoxville. The cop even got in my cab to check my log, I think he was sniffing for weed. Also if he wasn't a DOT trained officer, he had no right stopping you for anything but motor vehicle infractions(speeding, red light, etc). The gonads!

If the cop wasn't DOT certified he had no right pulling you over for anything but motor vehicle infractions(speeding, bad turns, etc). The gonads on some of these cops.

I was at the TA in Knoxville once, while a Local, a County and a DOT State Cop were all sitting and telling stupid TruckDriver stories. The DOT officer having the most colorful stories. I overheard one ask if the Truck was one of those Peterbilt’s with all those chicken lights, He replied Oh Yes, We got him for this and that etc. I was surprised at what I heard, they were a bunch of A ####### for sure. Pulled Me in about 2 mos back. Park on the scale and bring in my logbook. All was good, but they were just plain rude. No need for that.

Did Ihear right, you were stopped by a local and when the dot arrived, he set the local straight, but wrote you up for not updating your log at a traffic stop. Hmmm that isn't anymore right than the idiot local.
