Glad to be out of California with their 55 mph speed limit and bridge law. Puts me to sleep having to do 55 all the time. In a rest area in central AZ east of Flagstaff. Blizzards ain't my thing nor is Vail Pass. Took the south route. I 40 east. Getting a little windy. This rest area is too close to the highway but with the clock winding down and being 630 pacific time not risking truck stop parking. Tomorrow morning might head for TA in Holbrook and either recap Friday morning or start a new 34. Don't need to deliver in KC by Monday 4pm so maybe I can squeeze a 34 in. Tomorrow never knows.

In Tucumcari at the J. Ended up doing a 34 at the rest area east of Flagstaff then headed on. Was hoping for Amarillo but got too tired. Yeah, even after a 34. Maybe the higher altitude, I don't know. Haven't been able to shake this creepy crud that I have had for weeks. Just trying to keep working through it. Just broke the handle on the refrigerator. Headed to KC, drop this in a dropyard, pick up a Nash Finch load take it Omaha Sunday then head over to headquarters for repairs. Side view mirror cover that a kamikaze bird took out on I 80 back around Valentines day, refrigerator door handle and an overdue chassis lube that the mothership didn't want me to do in California. Deuces.

So much for KC, Omaha, then Fremont. Weekend dispatch had me swap my load in Amarillo with another driver who picked up a copper load going to Lafayette IN but was overgross by 700 lbs. He has a Volvo and my KW is 2000 lbs lighter. Though, I am 1500 lbs under, my drives were 34780 and my tandems were all the way forward so I contacted dispatch and they said they would cover if and yes they put it on the qc. Now, my drives were 11k, so sliding the fifth wheel might have been a possibility, but having NEVER done it before, I am not comfortable with doing this. Kinda like going over passes with the chain law in effect. So heres the question. When you slide the fifth wheel, is the trailer hooked on or not?
Got to the only open weigh station in Oklahoma, and they were pulling everybody in. The Danny Herman truck in front of me had to park and bring his papers in. Expecting the same fate, I slowly pulled on the scale, and waited, but quickly got greenlighted back to I 40. Guess burning off some fuel brought me to an acceptable level of being over on the drive axle but not nearly 100 gallons worth. I carried my happy ### off the scale and down the highway. Shut down at 178 service plaza on I 44 south of Tulsa. Need a 600 plus mile run tomorrow to put me two hours away for delivery Monday between 0700-1400. Really wanted to be a team player here. -
When you slide the fifth wheel, dolly the trl down then dump your tractor suspension to get the weight off your fifth wheel. It will slide much easier.
