Just soliciting opinions . I have a 53' low step deck sliding tarp trailer leased to CRST Malone. It is a well equipped unit with 4 ramps/load levelers, boxes, extra tie downs 10' 2 inch inside height, sliding tandem on 17.5's,etc. My problem is I can only scale 42,500 full of fuel & despite what I was told when leasing on a year ago, Malone seems to have no need for this type equipment. They are pretty much a flatbed company. Most everything I haul is simply flatbed loads that happen to be light enough that I can scale them. In many areas their agents & approved agents seem to have very few loads if any under 46-48,000. I am doing way too much deadhead & if I stay with them I will have to get lighter. I would prefer to find a company to lease with that has more freight for this type of set up. I can not do California, & prefer to run the midwest, south, Texas & plains areas. any opinions would be appreciated. Thank you.

It’s going to be hard to get good rates staying in Midwest.

I also run a heavier combo and can’t scale above 46,500 lbs and it’s seriously limited my load selection ALOT since the rates are down. I’ve lost a ridiculous number of loads since I can’t scale 48k.
