What is the stupidest thing youve ever seen a Werner dispatcher do?

Get up after a 10 hour break drive an hour. Customer says appointment time is wrong ( if not your fault) say on line 4 and in 13 more hours your off duty again........

    No. Refuse the load.

You have been awake time way too many hours.

That's the other thing this industry or Nation does not put any value on a Professional Driver's Personal time the moment they hit the floor out of that bunk. There is a certain amount of time in hours before very specific and verified biological and internal medicine chemical markers kick in all of our bodies demanding bed time. To be in bed equals life itself. Usually about 17 hours give or take. I just finished 5 hours this afternoon and expect another three before bed at midnight. That's because I am healing and require more rest than normal.

The 9 hour safety course is nothing more than a blatant punishment. Short of chaining you to the floor or simply firing you they choose to create in you a very unsafe problem. Driving sleepy is worse than driving drunk.

No need to burn hours off your 70 because of their mistake. That costs you money. The same thing can be accomplished by going on-duty for five minutes before your break is over. Do this again at the time you want your break to begin when you can get a decent amount of sleep.

    Had something similar happen.

I drove my shift, stayed up with student during his night shift, then they sent us into the terminal and told me I would be able to get sleep while they changed our tires. Instead they kept me up all day waiting for safety and about 4pm did a search of my truck that turned up nothing. Ive been up almost 34 hours by then and they try to assign me a load.

When I told them I had to sleep and was obviously unable to respond to messages during that time they put a note on my file saying I had poor communication skills.

After working for Werner for so long I really do think they have a severe drug problem with the dispatchers. Nobody in their right mind would behave like this. They are either on drugs or suffer from psychopathy not to know better.

There is a very old comic referencing the "Shadow" in a generic inner city core his processes were somewhat similar to yours (As described for the story line) while the bad guys some form of disabling twist of physical issues among the people were present.

The reason i thought of this kind of comic which was produced in the years after world war two used a 6 wheeled by 6 wheel drive Mercedes staff-car, where necessary to be off road for Hitler in bad weather or one of his Reich-marshals. There was a constant use of brown shirt with a touch of grey which substituted for black SS.

If the bad guy is to be fatique, as in the ability to kill through overwork without rest until death arrived of natural causes to the person being attacked with too much work, no food and no rest until eliminated. You could lighten the overtone further by remembering so many truckers aka 90 day wonders run hard by dispatchers until they finally reached a state in which they no longer wanted to touch the 18 wheeler again much less be motivated to keep doing what they were doing. They were evolving to protect their own self interest and self preservation. Suddenly of no value to dispatch ho craves another batch of newbies just like the conditions run before.

I have written this very carefully and even to write it is upsetting. When I think about say a cargo of ... potatochips... nothing needs to be inside the Midwest off the USA West coast in 30 hours. It's stupid. And sometimes get people killed. It should get there when it gets there. How much stronger will our industry be when appts are discarded for safe havens in which you are allowed to

You were up for too long AND the time spent in meetings at the terminal are classified as ON DUTY. Takes 10 hours off to have driving hours again....
