Drove by it on Thursday and noticed that the sign was lit up. The lot was completely empty except for a Love's fuel truck filling up the ground tanks. Must have just opened that day.

Looked it up online and in addition to 60 new jobs and 103 new truck parking spots, it has the following amenities:

    • Love's Truck Tire Care center.
    • Chester's Chicken, Godfather's Pizza and IHOP Express restaurants.
    • 103 truck parking spaces.
    • Eight diesel bays.
    • Three RV parking spaces.
    • Seven showers.
    • Laundry facilities.
    • Fresh to Go options.
    • Bean to Cup Gourmet Coffee.
    • Brand-name snacks.
    • Mobile to Go Zone.
    • CAT scale.

Loves being a family independent Travel Centers they can and are building at a blazing pace. I have emailed customer service to thank them for their committment to adding more facilities around the USA. They emailed me that they want to expand all of their Travel Centers to include more parking, more food choices and truck services where needed. At least they are trying to answer the needs of us drivers.

I follow them on Facebook. They open 2 or 3 new stores at a minimum every month. I’ve seen them open as many as 10 in a month. It’s nice to see a brand new store off the beaten path every once in awhile. The one in Bridgeport Texas on 380, been open a year or two, I’ve never seen more than 10 trucks in that lot which probably has about 70 spaces. I’m sure the locals LOVE that place. Nothing but disgusting rat holes for gasoline in that town.

I applaud any company that manages to get a truck stop built in this messed up state. Real estate is too expensive, and the red tape one has to wade through in order to get something built is a nightmare. It probably took at least 5 years to build this one. I built a commercial building here back in the early 90's and what you have to do in the way of permitting and planning is a complete joke compared to other states. So much corruption here.

It's a real pain in the as_ anywhere in this country. Land is extremely expensive everywhere and by the time they get permitting and endless meetings completed you can't blame them if they give up. A lot of local communities do not want anything to do with a truck stop in their neighborhood regardless of the tax benefits or the jobs it provides their local governments. If the trucks stop coming to their area stores and they had to travel 30-40 miles to just get their needs they wouldn't be happy. Hell even Walmart trucks are seeming to deliver and leave town because they aren't allowed to park in their own company lots. Makes sense doesn't it. Of course some drivers are contributing to the hype with their trash and "pee bombs" just discarded everywhere. Enough said.

It'd be nice if the city of Weed, California would clear some land near the Pilot truck stop.
