Wow, you sure have it all figured out By the way did the automakers agree to the terms of the contract or did the union just unilaterally decree them? It's a two way street What really happened was we allowed the automakers to ship the manufacturing to Mexico for 10 dollars an hour
while people like you cheered them on while your fellow American workers were getting screwed. Once again, brainwashed I'm glad you have set an arbitrary income limit for all workers at 60 thousand a year I'm sure you've got a limit for management too, right?

 

being someone who tried in vain to obtain a job with them several times, this makes me happy.

 

don't forget, YRC has bought out companies, chewed them up, and spit them out, all for the good freight.

in this instance, i believe they have long ago, bitten off more than they can chew...now they are the "chewee's".......

many union companies bled the companies dry.

i worked for one union shop, glad i left, but then too, it was not a teamsters union.

i think the unions have lost thier leverage.

was a time when the teamsters had the companies by the "short hairs"

case in point, the teamsters/Hasbro toy company

they pulled a wildcat strike, at the wrong time..all the toys were shipped before christmas.

i think this goes back the the late 1980's

they had NO leverage, and LOST benefits, like retiring after 25 years, no matter your age...

they lost some health benefits.

after the walk out was settled?

they could not retire at an early age...and reap the pension

they had to start paying into their health care..

i was good friends with a Hasbro driver....he cried that he could not retire at 40, but at 62 instead, and to get his pension, at 65...!!!!

 

Preston as well...a former Preston driver came to work at my barn (union shop, non-teamsters) and he cried nearly every night...then he got a job a few months later driving rear discharge cement mixers....at what else.....a teamsters place.

 

Yep That's poor management decisions Same thing with Super Valu. Profitable, growing company They bought Albertsons and couldn't service the debt and finally recently sold out to UNFI because they were losing money Potentially could affect thousands of workers who are totally blameless. The CEO who did the deal gets a huge severance package
