Whenever I hear the words “extra board”, I want to turn tail and run like the wind.
From what I have experienced with other companies in the past, being on the extra board is nothing more than part time, inconsistant work, mixed in with the occaisional abundance of overtime into the wee small hours of the morning.
This is the first time that I have ever even heard mention of an extra board at Walmart; only the mention of a 5/2 or 6/3 shift as per both HR as well as the terminal manager. I was notified that all trucks are not assigned, and that this applies to every driver.
So, if there is an extra board at Walmart, what exactly does it mean?
Is it even an assigned, consistant schedule?Last edited: Apr 15, 2019

There was a driver at my old DC who started before the 250 limit and they told him he had to come in and take 10 hours off at the DC or nearby motel before the start of his week. Don't know if this is still the case now.
