Everytime i get a load, it shows when and where i’ll be getting empty.

I get these pain in the ### agents pestering me with phone calls “doing me a favor” by trying to find a load for me.

    Isn’t that nice of them?

I don’t want their crappy loads, many of which i don’t think are even theirs yet.

I can see the board myself and decide what load i want w/o their “help”.

Just 10 minutes ago, i got such a call. The guy sounded like he was eating a mayo sandwich. Or maybe his st bernard was on the extension eating his mayo sandwich.:)

I know dang well someone on that phone was!

So I tried to do a status update showing im out of service. Geez what a pain that is.

Is there any way to keep my truck from being seen by the agents?

These guys have no idea what i look for in a load and i wont agree to a load until i can see whats available on the other end. I’m sure we all have our own intricacies when searching for what we see as a better or best load.

They always seem to start off by saying .... this is _____ with landstar .... and thats it, like i’m suppose to know them? I swear, next time im gonna say ... thanks ____ for calling to tell me who you are and hang up on em..

Any advice on how to hide my truck from these agents will be much appreciated.

Maybe you should consider going back to being a company driver if you own the business and people calling you and offering business to you bothers you that much. Its a phone call for god sake that’s what you’re complaining about.Maybe seriously owning isn’t for you

Think you might have it backards. Here at landstar we pick our loads off the board. We get to see where they go ... but also get to see whats available on the other end (load planning).

I can see what these agents can see, so we dont need their “help”. 1/2 the time, they’re just trying to match us to any load even one they dont have yet. The other day, i. Had an Agent who didnt wanna take “no i dont need your help.”

He kep saying : Please, just tell me what state you want to go to, i try to find you a load. He was both texting me offers and calling me.

I dont think they understand that we’re usually driving when they call me.

I just called someone at Landstar ... problem is now hopefully not going to occur again, we’ll see. ;-)

P.S. the business they offer is to their advantage, not the O/O’s, usually less than $2 a mile and going to Florida where it can be hard to get out of.

There’s a reason they have to call drivers. The good loads are scooped up w/o the agent needing to call drivers.

Ok you’re leased to Landstar I still really don’t understand why it’s frustrating to each there own.I personally would appreciate an agent of the company trying a little to hard to get me loads and even try to use it to my advantage for him to get me a better rate to run his loads. If you own the truck it’s to your advantage to talk to them build a good relationship it’s better for an agent to know you and have a good impression of you really could benefit you later.Since my understanding of landstar is the better loads don’t always get poste agents call guys they have good relationships with first

Maybe you never owned a business if you think lots of phone calls is good.

I used to have a retail store in Evansville. Holy crap!
There are parasite companies that get your phone from the state when you get your sales tax license.

They then sell lists of every retail business in the country to people wanting to sell credit card machines or sell anything.

Until i changed my number, i got no less than 3 calls a day, sometimes close to a dozen a day .... hello sir, my name is habib, do you currently have a credit card machine? Oh you do, may i ask who you gt it through? Oh, i think i can help you save money by using a credit card machine through me .... i’ll explain how you can save money. CLICK

    Adios habibos !

I’m not always right, but i consider myself a good judge of character. There are some agents who are down to earth and sincere and want to help the BCO (thats what Landstar calls their O/O’s .. BCO’s).

I don’t think it takes a lot to know the good ones...and the “less than good” ones.

Think there are way more “less than good” ones. Just my opinion.

When you start taking every job you’re offered, you’re gonna lose money.

Long ago, i drove a cab in Phoenix. There were times when i. Would turn away fares (riders). That may not make sense to you.

But after midnight i knew my chances of doing a drug run were high. A drug run is when a guy goes out to buy drugs using a cab. They dont tell you theyre goin out to buy drugs, but you get to know it.

I’d drive out of scottsdale and take calls and flags in phoenix.

I could make $650 by turning in his dealer to silent witness/crime stoppers. You had to have enough evidence for the cops to be interested enough to do a stakeout and eventually make an arrest to actually get paid.

I turned in a lot more dealers than i got paid for turning in. I remember driving a cab in Indy for indy airport cab.

It was late and drug dealers were harder to find in indy than they are in phoenix.

I was hyper desperate to get a drug dealer. I remember 2 couples trying to flag me at 1 a.m.. i told them to get lost. They, like you, couldnt understand why i would turn a fare away.

I knew there was a drug dealer near by.

The fares later reported me for telling them to get lost.

I later saw someone walking away from an apt. Bldg i suspected the dealer was in. I offered her a free ride. I got her to show me 3 rocks she bought. She told me the apt. Number and the dealers phone. Bingo, that’s one that crime stoppers paid me $650 for. The arrest was even in the news 3 days later.

So don’t think there aren’t legitimate reasons to turn loads down.

It’s kinda like a traffic cop. He doesnt go after the 1st speeder he sees. Did you think a traffic cop went after every speeder? Hell no!

If the speed limit is 55, and he’s a smart cop, he might not waste his time on a guy doin 65, if He knows the area and thinks that if he waits 5 minutes he can catch a guy doin 75.

    You could change companies.
Or you can go into your profile and uncheck the box that allows your number to be shown , they can still find it but they have to go in a separate screen.
