Western Dairy Transport/WDTMilk info

Looking for info and thoughts about WDT. I was referred to them by a local friend but I have no experience with this industry. They have a paid training program that starts you out at $10/hr while in the classroom to get your CDL (permit required before applying), then 3-4 weeks training on the road at $140/day. After going solo I would start at $0.35 cpm and after 1 year go to $0.41 cpm. This seems low compared to others that I've seen available but I also don't have any information on additional pay like bonuses, layover, detention. The CDL school is paid back with a 2 year contract, but has nothing prorated the first year and then $250/month the second year. What concerns me more is that for "the nation’s largest milk and dairy-related logistics company", it's really hard to find any info about them or anyone talking about the company online. Been looking at this and other options for a week now and my brain is about fried lol. Also any other suggestions would be great if you have them. Thanks

 

I understand. I was just posting what I was already told. I live close to their Cabool, MO location. What questions should I be asking at a tanker company? I just started looking into driving recently after the person I know suggested it but they’re also not a driver there. My main concern besides pay is what they’re like to work for. I don’t want to be locked into a two year contract with a company that’s not treating drivers well. And I haven’t been able to find much info from people that have worked there. Which could also be a good thing as people tend to post more when they’re pissed off at a company lol.

 

I ended up going to CDL school instead of signing a contract for the training. While looking around some more I decided to go with Transland out of Strafford, MO running dry van to start out. I'm starting there Monday. They seem like a decent company so far and they have a pretty good reputation.
