    Wikipedia:
"Total port-related employment in the United States was estimated at 8.4 million people in 2006. Of this total, 1.4 million were employed in providing goods and services to ports (such as longshore, stevedore, and security personnel)."
    ....
"There are approximately 3.5 million professional truck drivers in the United States, according to estimates by the American Trucking Association. The total number of people employed in the industry, including those in positions that do not entail driving, exceeds 8.7 million."

So there are more than twice as many truck drivers than port workers in a strict job count. I don't know if there is any more or less solidarity in one group or the other but a group of discontent port workers in LA can effectively paralyze the whole port so they have a leverage which truck drivers don't.

The point is that there are too many truck drivers and owner operators who are quite happy with what they have and how they do and it would be sort of awkward to expect them to protest about anything. Perhaps too many who make between 100K -200K too.

    Practice makes perfect.

Do your cats use the catwalk? Do they own it but allow you to use it? Do you walk your cats? I’ve got so many questions.

If a group of port workers can paralyze the whole port what do u to think the right amount of trucks sitting will do to America . And the numbers given was not an amount to compare incomes seems like u didn’t get that part . It is given in comparison to the kind of labor that is done vs the compensation for it . Also seems like u are missing the point that if there was unity amount trucks they would have leverage the key word was IF just in case u missed it also unity is more than about protesting it could also be a way to penalize companies or operators for cutting rates below a minimum threshold which is IMO where the true problem lies....u can say it will never happen and I would agree with you bottom line tho a lot more could be worked
Out to the advantage of the trucking industry if unity was ever accomplished ....But I also know nothing in the world changes unless it is demanded and taken . Any part of human history is proof of this.
.... FYI Wikipedia is not a credible source of information

From what I’ve seen of and from the leadership of BSM I have zero desire to be united with them in any shape or form. If I am successful operating in the current environment what is my motivation to unite with those who blame their shortcomings on a list of reasons?

Dale thompson, REO6205 and JoeyJunk Thank this.

Lol how many of us get pissed off from dealing with union workers ?? What if we had a
Way to counteract how trucks are treated at those places besides complaining or
Watching 1-2 trucks say screw it and leaving . That Dosent effect them at all. But it does the driver.

Either way, I don’t want to be in a group or share a voice with the lowest common denominator.
