Any opinions on buying from Ryder/Penske vs Selectrucks/Paccar/ex-mega fleet dealers?

Availability of service records and oil sample results and used truck warranties are a concern.

What I like about Truckpaper.com you can specify what kind of truck you want, what year model you want, engine, sleeper or day cab etc. Also it has keyword search you can put in words like overhaul if thats important to you

The only one I ruled out was the ex-mega but threw it in in case others had opinions.

    Why would you avoid?

A few drivers have posted on here they bought from large trucking companies and did ok; satisfied with the purchase. One I remember bought two from Melton Truck Lines and some bought from TransAm.

    Rideandrepair and OldeSkool Thank this.

I personally just like a truck that whoever drove it took care of it. Not that there aren't any fleet trucks that fit that, but they are somewhat rare

I just bought a former rental car. Las Vegas is loaded with them due to tourists flying here, then renting a car during their stay. Those cars are practically like brand new and most are less than 20K miles or 30K miles and cheap. In fact, when I started looking for another car, I specified I wanted a former rental car. AutoNation was cheaper than Carmax, so I bought from AutoNation.
