I think that's fairly common. Safety compliance is more about the rules than driving a truck.

Every place I've ever worked, it's an ex-cop. Sometimes not even a trooper/CMV officer.

Hahaa this pic depicts it perfectly.

Like I said decent guy, knows traffic laws, I just don't think he should be giving people corrective tips on their driving.

He also does road tests for new hires...

I;ve experienced this a few times over the yrs. Small co, owners never been in a truck. Even a trucking school owned by brothers who never drove a truck ! How about this … a college kid still wet behind the ears never been out of his county and he's telling you what highway to take to make your delivery !!! (AKA your dispatcher )

Who do do think is pushing all the insane warning devices, cameras and lane change warning crap? All those ridiculous alarms and bells going off while your driving. Do you think all of those safety nazi’s would have that crap in their cars? Hell no!
Not to mention governing their four wheelers to 64 mph.

I was just gonna say that. I’m pretty sure the DOT bear doesn’t either, but surely doesn’t stop him from issuing a violation does it?

I want to be a scale officer in Florida I don't have to carry a gun I'm not required to chase anybody and I can turn the bypass on permanently and take long naps. And get paid for it.
Sorry about that I was just thinking out loud, it seems that my Mega Millions lottery dream will never come true so I'm shooting for the scale house officer position which is running a close second to the Mega Millions. Lmao

It's all about safety in this country we manufacture cars that can do 140 miles an hour plus and the top speed limit in certain parts of this country are only 85 miles per hour go figure Safety First.
I'm sure an airbag will always help when someone is rear-ended at 140 miles an hour. Lol
