Haven't ran into a single negative driver yet anywhere, but they sure pop up on here a lot. Our DC is tight on trucks, I've had to hop trucks 2 to 3 times a week, this will be the start of my program so it won't be an issue now but even with all that putting a big dent in my productivity I still haven't grossed less than 1500 a week, I see 2000 a week an easy target now that I will have a steady truck, that literally doubles my pay I had at Kroger where I worked 6 days a week, I'm happy

So day 2 in Bentonville... More class learning, though today was safety such as phone policy, Smith system, camera system, etc.... Learned the final count is 64, that's the number of new hires in this class this week and from talking with the trainers, that is a middle amount compared to other classes... I also overheard what a total failure day 1 in regards to "let's see what you as drivers have in your ability." Not going to call out exact numbers, but I myself was shocked. The idea that so many drivers have lengthy clean records indicating they know how to handle a truck and then fail at the very reason of being there in the first place... I understand nervousness and shyness and therefore expected a few mis-haps. But failure to conduct standard trucking 101 technique and get your butt out to look when your backing, come on... And again trucking 101 pretrips, yes the Walmart way has a few minor changes, and some of them are stumped? I begin to wonder who trained them? Is it their fault or not that they do not know the basics? I could buy that idea for a couple of drivers, and go with the idea they had bad trainers.... But so many? This brought back memories of other training I have been in with other companies and well, I do recall there really was not much of a hands on verification and/or training of pretrip inspections of other companies. Man, if other companies were to verify a drivers ability in the same manner as Walmart... Thumbs up to Walmart... It did literally sound like (by overhearing the new hires talk to each other) that they were just never taught properly or at all in regards to pretrips... Some even mentioned they worked for a company in where if you popped the hood you were fired. I am also surprised that out of the 60+ drivers, there has yet to be a big mouth running super trucker, and absolutely no push back on some of the more subtle requirements in regards to not only pretrips (like literally grabbing every lug nut), but cellphone usage push back, no pushback at all.... Naturally you had a couple of them that asked for clarification because they had no idea what Facebook or Twitter were. So at the end of day 2 it does seem the nerves are a bit more relaxed in all the drivers now that they got to know most the trainers and how down to earth they all are... Oh yeah... Lunch was pulled pork and brisket, quite delicious...

Personally I think this was over due and welcomed. -
