You guys should really load a truck and scale it out, it might surprise you to know that you are running around 10,000 over on axle or worse yet over on gross. You definitely do not want the DOT man telling you that your over weight with those kind of figures when you could have simply spent a few bucks and ten minutes of your time to know where your at. I just got a new trailer and had to scale it out today, found out that it’s heavier than my old one and now I can’t haul 8600 and have to cut back to 8400 otherwise I’m 1500 over on gross. Be safe out there and when in doubt scale it out. Diesel should always weigh the same as so with gas and ethanol so once you have your numbers on each product you should be good.

The problem is the weight does change, depending on specific gravity/temperature, and you don't know you've got heavy product until after you loaded, unless you call the operator before you load and ask them what it is. It's best to remember the 5 D's - if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a scale.

But you can’t dodge the man in the black pickup truck!
