anyone got any companies that will hire me on in the Chicago land northwest Indiana market for local home daily opportunities?
Most companies I see want 6 months to a year experience which I have driving in the military for the last 5 years. Some companies won’t count my experience in the military which sucks. I hold a class a cdl. I know there are some intermodal companies out there but the ones I called don’t want to count my military experience. I want home daily because I spent the last 5 years away from my family a lot because of military deployments. Thanks for any leads guys @Chinatown

When dining with the devil, bring a long spoon.
You'll never get what you want just starting out in trucking. You have to gain experience slowly like everyone else. But, your military experience does give an edge in that you know how to handle big trucks.
You'll most likely need to work a year otr to be able to obtain a local job. It's just the way the industry is. -
Suspect Zero Thanks this.

Or you could get a job pounding on bulk tanks with a rubber mallet.

If you want to stay local in that area, intermodal is about your only choice. I can't believe these outfits won't recognize your service, you're already heads and shoulders above the rest of the applicants, I'm sure. I did intermodal for almost 5 years in the Chicago area, and I lived in Wisconsin., when intermodal was nothing but problems, but I did ok, as an O/O. It's come a long way, and keep at it, someone will put you on. You may have to drive a white Volvo,,,
