Looking for some suggestions on where to go guys and gals. Live in Huntsville AL. Like to run the Midwest and South. If something local popped up even better. 7 years exp and about 11 months flatbed exp. Have all the endorsements. I like hauling steel/aluminum. Currently at Mercer pulling flat (leasing their trailer). They would be fine if they had the freight. Just can’t wait another month waiting for it to “pick up”. I’m single with a low overhead. I'd like to make money but not trying to kill myself.

My buddy at P&S out of Birmingham got me to apply there. Had orientation scheduled for Monday. Had hotel and pet sitting arrangements set up only for them to “txt” me on Friday saying Blair, their sister company would be in contact with me. Blair calls saying P&S doesn’t have any O/O positions open...Ok... they tell me I was welcome to apply at Blair. A couple of other weird things happened, long story short I’m kind of skeptical now.

    Companies that I’ve talked to-

Kaplan- don’t have a full year flat exp. turned me down.

Bennett and Admiral Merchants both suggested I buy my own trailer to be profitable.

TLX- O/O advised against it unless it was a last resort.

Mawson and Mawson- former employee advised against them as well.

I’m willing to go to Blair and give it a shot just want to know all my options before I jump. Tried searching for info recent info on PGT to no avail. Also been seeing advertisements for Beemac but their reviews are (insert price is right losing horn). Not against going back to tankers or pneumatics. Any suggestions are welcome

How are you not able to stay busy with all those steel mills in Decatur and Athens? Blair runs a lot of steel loads up there don’t they? B and T Express runs up there too, if I remember correctly.

I ask myself that everyday. I’ve only pulled out of Decatur TWICE. Mercer likes to pull lumber out of Nauvoo and Muscle shoals. Load board mulch out of Vance.

There is a company that leases trucks up there, maybe Three Ladies Trucking or something to that effect. My friend said they were originally out of Ohio, he worked for IKE pulling out of there almost daily as a company driver up until about a month ago.

This may sound like ignorance but I never gave Malone the time of day because it was associated with CRST lol. But I’ll check them out too.
